Mastermind Learning Points:

  • Definition and Importance of Self-Awareness

    • Explore what self-awareness is and why it is foundational to building authentic connections.

    • Discuss how self-awareness impacts communication and relationships.

  • Reflecting on Personal Values and Motivators

    • Identify core values and motivators that shape personal and professional behavior.

    • Understand how these factors influence interactions with others.

Week 2 - Cultivate a Positive Mindset

The second week sets the tone for the conversation, fosters openness, and helps build trust and rapport.

Learning Points:

  • Shift Your Perspective Before the Conversation

    • Instead of focusing on potential challenges, think about the opportunity to learn, connect, or offer value.

  • Focus on the Person, Not the Outcome

    • Set your intention to simply understand or appreciate the other person, rather than aiming to persuade or achieve a specific result.

  • Practice Gratitude

    • Reflect on something you’re grateful for about the person or the interaction (e.g., their time, their perspective).

  • Monitor Your Self-Talk

    • Replace negative thoughts like “What if they don’t like me?” with empowering ones such as “This is a chance to grow and connect.”

  • Smile and Use Positive Body Language

    • A smile, open posture, and nodding affirmatively convey positivity and attentiveness.

Week 3 - Ask Meaningful Questions

The goal of this session is to help participants build on their self-awareness to engage others through thoughtful, impactful questions, and to practice both the content and delivery of those questions.

Learning Points:

  • The Power of Meaningful Questions

  • Components of Meaningful Questions

    • Curiosity-driven, open-ended, value-oriented and nonjudgemental.

    • Practice using proper tone, pacing, and body language. Discuss pitfalls to avoid.

Week 4 - Listen Actively

The goal of this session is to help participants develop the skills to listen with full attention and curiosity, creating a space for deeper understanding and connection.

Learning Points:

  • The Importance of Active Listening

    • Builds trust, encourages openness, prevents miscommunication

  • Components of Active Listening

    • Avoid distractions, use body language to demonstrate listening.

    • Notice tone and pace to understand speaker’s emotions and unspoken messages.

  • Suspend judgement

    • Focus on understanding their perspective without immediately agreeing, disagreeing, or solving their problem.
